Will rock music dominate the industry in the 2020s

Like it or not, rock music nearly died in the 2010s. Metal, punk and hard rock were pushed underground by the music industry, losing popularity faster than ever. The only bands that still play are those dating back to the 80s and 90s, but even they have lost a large part of their fan base.

Everyone was ready to forget about rock, but it seems that rock is getting popular again. As Jack Black says in one of his songs, you can’t kill metal, and it sounds like he was right. 2019 was one of the best years for the genre, but that was just a hint of what we can expect in the 2020s. Post Malone and similar artists use rock in their music, we’ll hence seeing an increase in its popularity in the near future.

Rock will become relevant again

Even though rock is perceived as a sex, drug and rock and roll genre, it remains one of the most popular genres to this day. People who like it are more likely to play online sex games all day and headbang the hardest riffs all night. One thing is certain, rock is back.

Hugely popular bands like My Chemical Romance and Rage Against the Machine have announced their return to the scene. RATM are one of the greatest bands in the history of the genre, and they are sure to get millions of people interested in this music again.

Hip-hop stars help

The music industry continues to evolve every year. The 2000s and 2010s were dominated by pop and rap music. Most of the new generations grew up without knowing the legendary bands before their time. The few bands that continued to play during this time were nowhere as popular as they were a few decades earlier.

Surprisingly, today’s hip hop artists have strong roots in rock music. Artists like Ghostmane, Post Malone, SCARLXRD and many more often use rock in their music. They exposed younger generations to an almost forgotten genre, bringing it back from the dead. No one thought such a thing was possible, but here we are. This is great news for anyone who loves the sound of an electric guitar. Modern society is no stranger to adult sex games all the time, which has helped rock music shed that “bad boy” image it was known for.

What about extreme metal?

Of course, many people can’t stand the sound of rock guitars, which pushes metal all the way to the bottom. Most extreme metal bands never made it out of the underground, but that could change in the next few years. Bands like Bring me the Horizon, Dethclock, The Architects and many more have managed to climb to the top of the world charts.

There’s no doubt that people all over the world can’t help but listen to the hardcore sound that metal is famous for. Ghostmane has done a great job of popularizing heavy metal in their songs. He is a hip hop artist who is directly inspired by extreme metal. The same can be said for Suicide Boys and other popular hip hop artists today.

The tool is back after more than a decade

Tool are definitely one of the greatest rock/metal bands of all time. Their incredible sense of music and the powerful messages they convey won over millions of fans a decade or two ago. Tool achieved legendary status with their album 10,000 Days, but the band stopped playing together a few years later.

Finally, after 13 years of waiting, Tool release Fear Inoculum, their latest album that has taken the world by storm. The album was accepted by everyone in the music industry and it quickly found its way to number 6 on the US Top Charts. If that’s not a rock sign going up, nothing is. Xxx games are the only thing that is even more popular than Tool’s album these days.

We just have to wait and see

The 20s look promising so far when it comes to rock music. We can only wait to see the return of some of the most iconic bands in history. They will surely bring something new to the table, and rock fans everywhere will once again get the respect they deserve.
