Balancing the demands of being a working mother of three young children and running a new business in the midst of the pandemic presented unique challenges for the franchisee. Armed with her master’s degree in accounting and a passion for teaching music, Chen has helped the school thrive by using her time efficiently, standing firm and committed during the worst of the pandemic, and working closely with his colleagues on a daily basis.
“Our final profile presents Mengjia Chen of our San Diego school. The pandemic disrupted all school plans as it was only open a month before the closings,” said Brian Gross, president of Bach to Rock. “Mengjia quickly transitioned to virtual classes and was able to get the school back up and running within months. Her determination and dedication to getting the school off the ground was inspirational,” Gross added.
As a busy mother of a six-year-old, four-year-old, and eight-month-old, Chen is in high demand. The school is practically a second home for her children, with her six-year-old son already taking drum lessons and about to join a band. “Before the birth of my eight-month-old child, I worked at school every day. I took my two oldest boys to school with me in the afternoons. Since then, I have switched to remote monitoring and regular communication with my manager,” Chen said.
