DANKO JONES Reaches No. 1 On The German Rock Charts For The Very First Time With “I Want Out”

Toronto rocker Danko Jones checked in with the following update:

“We are happy to announce that we are number 1 in Germany! Our song, ‘I Want Out’, is number 1 in the German rock charts and number 102 in the mainstream charts. We never had number one song in Germany before. and it’s a big deal for us. Thanks to everyone in Germany who dug the song. Our full album, Power Trio, is out on August 27th. I can’t wait for us to do rock together.

Heralded by raucous lead single “I Want Out”, Power Trio – the 10th studio album from Toronto rock behemoth Danko Jones is set to arrive on August 27. The full-throttle album sees the band reunited with Canadian independent label Sonic Unyon Records, who released the trio’s early recordings and will release the band’s latest masterpiece in North America. Pre-orders are available here. Watch the video for “I Want Out” below.

Power Trio sees Danko Jones deliver every engine revving riff, every soul shaking stomp, and every loud screaming hook with sniper precision. It’s such a simple and obvious title, yet loaded with meaning, as it speaks to the particular triangular chemistry that Danko shares with his trusty sidekick JC and drummer Rich Knox. It also marks the band’s place in a legendary line of three-tier titans Jimi Hendrix Experience, ZZ Top, Rush, Motörhead, Venom, Dinosaur Jr. and the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, to name a few.

When you choose to start a power trio, you don’t just form a band, you enter into a blood pact – a tacit recognition that all three members must carry their equal share of the brunt lest the whole company crumble. . There’s nowhere to hide in a power trio – no second guitarist to cover up your mistakes, no keyboardist to smooth things over, no horn section to distract the crowd. If you fuck up, the whole band fucks up. Everyone must be on their A-game at all times.

Power Trio follows the band’s electrifying, global album, A Rock Supreme, released in 2019. It also sees the band tapping once again into the production prowess of Eric Ratz, who previously amped up the bone-breaking boogie of the full-throttle rocker Wild from 2017. Cat and the bloody Fire Music from 2015.
